The first day of college. What an important sentence? You know how they always say the “first day of the rest of your life?” The first day of college IS that. Let me tell you what it was like.

Move in. Meeting the roommate (in my case … for the 2nd time as we had dinner the night before move-in). Opening the legions of the boxes I sent was quite an ordeal. It was exciting nonetheless. Realizing that my dorm could actually FIT the seven boxes of things I had was amazing! I was nervous for a bit that I had far too much stuff, but once reality set it, I was very happy. I felt accomplished too … and I haven’t really done anything yet!

I feel like I have met the population of a small planet. That is how many new people I saw/met. THe entire freshman class congregated in a meadow, and it looked like a sea of purple (we were all wearing purple shirts — my school’s color). At my high school, there were 400 kids in the entire school. Here, there are 2,100 people in my grade alone! Its a bit of a change, but I look forward to it!

Getting to make my own rules and set my own schedule is a phenomenon to me. Absolutely incredible. I will update you more on this later as I have to meet my PA Group for breakfast in 8 minutes. What is a PA Group, you might ask? Wait for the next blog post to find out!

Sounds like you’re off to a great start. I remember my first day at college, too. So many people I met that day are still an important part of my life. You’re in for an incredible adventure the next four years. Going away to college is a twin test of personal independence and responsibility. es, you CAN sleep through English Composition 101 at 9:00 am –but SHOULD you? Yes, you CAN buy an entire pizza and eat the WHOLE thing — but SHOULD you? (I failed that test, BTW)

Good luck — and I’m looking forward to your report on the “PA group”. Does it have anything to do with Pennsylvania?

i remember my first day, too. I know for certain I wouldn’t have had the presence of mind to remember to blog. Not that there were blogs. There were many bogs — and I fell into most of them.

Good luck! And I wait, breathlessly, for the mysterious explanation to the PA question….

the question is: will you share the pitfalls and the triumphs?

How exciting!! Gotta tell you the truth, I don’t remember my first day of college that well and my journal entry from that day doesn’t help much (as you know). Thanks for sharing your thoughts and experiences – I’m sure there may come a time when you get too busy to keep up with regular posts, but I hope that time doesn’t come too soon. I’m really enjoying living vicariously through you 🙂
